The Earlham Word, the student newspaper of Earlham College, is now accepting applications to join the news team for the 2024-25 academic year.
The news team is comprised of editors who oversee one or more of the primary components of the newsroom operating: management, copy editing, page layout and design, website development, copy, and news and editorial content. Applications are due by (TBD).
Duties and Responsibilities
Section Editor
Will work with the managing editor to develop an editorial agenda for The Earlham Word. Main duties found here
Web Editor
Will be the go-to person for The Word’s website (earlhamword.com). Must have knowledge and skills in website development, and knowledge of Python/PHP is recommended. Main duties found here.
Layout and Design Editor
Will work with the managing editor to create a visual identity for the Earlham Word and should be experienced with design software, including Adobe InDesign. Main responsibilities found here.
Copy Editor
Will work with Managing Editor to ensure content meets journalistic standards. The detailed list of responsibilities is found here.
Managing Editor
The Managing Editor plays a crucial role in steering The Earlham Word, ensuring it serves as a dynamic, informative, and engaging platform for the student body and the broader Earlham community.
